overview of practice

My current practice is organized around two long-term projects with many different parts.

of colour concerns names, categories, codes, silences, slippages, glitches, materiality, psychoanalysis, race, matrilineal inheritances tracked through patrilineal systems, POC, education systems, life preserved within colonality, life shaped by colonialist, colonial systems of records, archives in heat and humidity, ghosts, cyphers, sight vs sense, vision vs insight, machine vision vs human vision, the antagonistic relationship of ocean and land, island nations and national borders, the naming and sensing of deities across diasporas, oil, sugar, cocoa, skin, and blood.

These concerns are explored through (purposely and accidentally) perverting the forms of the written essay, short story, ethnographic film, wallpaper, portrait, photograph, abstract painting, performance actions, strategic destruction, geocities doll showcases, very simple visual code and the soundscape.

something yet untitled concerns time, ecological vs conceptual time, the growth of crystals, seed rematriation, repatriation of sacred objects and human remains, the role of museums, publications and archives in recording culture, the bureaucracy and form of comparative underworlds, land art, sculpture, hierarchies of fine art and craft, string, rope, thread, composts, calendars and religious and secular public holidays. These concerns are being explored through the forms of the essay, sculpture, textile, collaborative publication, collective learning, gardening, herbalism, astrology, land art and video.
